Sofar's Wayfinder has been deployed !
We are happy to announce that we have started to introduce the Dynamic Voyage Optimization Platform "Wayfinder" developed by Sofar Ocean !
Wayfinder provides the optimal speed and route for safe and efficient navigation to each ship daily. These recommendations leverage real-time weather forecasts based on information from Sofar's global network of ocean sensors, the ship's fuel efficiency calculated using a data-driven model, and market and safety constraints. In a trial with 40 of MOL Group's operating vessels, it has confirmed an average fuel/GHG emission reduction of about 6% per voyage !

In the video below, you can see a vessel operated by the MOL Group deploying a Spotter Buoy in the North Pacific Ocean. The deployed Spotter Buoy is utilized to improve the accuracy of Sofar's weather forecast, which is the core of Wayfinder. MOL Group will continually contribute to the improvement of Sofar's global network of ocean sensors through further collaboration with Sofar Ocean.
